Head of Market Conduct Supervision

About the role

The Central Bank of Lesotho is seeking a senior leader to head its Market Conduct Supervision Division. The role oversees the regulation and supervision of all licensed financial service providers, ensuring market conduct standards protect consumers and promote confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site examinations and off‑site surveillance of financial service providers for market conduct risks.
• Collaborate with the prudential supervisory department to gather data for supervision.
• Lead the Division’s digitalisation programme.
• Participate in licensing, product approvals, enforcement actions and internal committees.
• Research market and consumer protection issues and produce regular reports.
• Develop and update the market conduct supervision framework and internal manuals.
• Review financial consumer protection laws and represent the Bank in domestic, regional and international forums.
• Drive execution, monitoring and evaluation of the Division’s strategy and foster an innovative, ethical culture.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in financial sector regulation and supervision.
• Strong analytical, research and decision‑making abilities.
• Proven experience in both on‑site examinations and off‑site analysis.
• Leadership, strategic planning and effective communication skills.
