Head of Financial Control – Southern Africa

About the role

Lead and direct the financial resources for Sandvik Mining’s Southern African entities (Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe). You will ensure the short‑ and long‑term financial health of the region while complying with IFRS, local legislation and Sandvik’s internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations such as the Companies Act, Income Tax Act, VAT Act, IFRS and the King Code.
• Oversee tax compliance, treasury governance, transfer pricing and insurance portfolio management.
• Manage internal and external audit requirements, including BBBEE and financial statement audits.
• Lead major financial control projects, including mergers and acquisitions and ERP system upgrades.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and coordinate reporting for board and audit committee meetings.
• Maintain effective cash‑flow management, financial risk mitigation and internal controls.
• Act as a director for one or more entities, fulfilling all directorship duties.

Required profile

• BCom Hons degree with CA (SA) status.
• At least 7 years post‑qualification experience in a financial control function within a dynamic environment.
• Proven track record in performance management, change management and people management.
• Experience with internal controls, policies and guidelines.
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Aurora ERP (or similar) advantageous.
• Previous mining industry experience and matrix‑environment exposure are a plus.
