Hardware Engineer (EPLAN)

About the role

The Hardware Engineer will design, develop and maintain electrical schematics, control panel documentation and related engineering deliverables using EPLAN software. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support the delivery of industrial automation solutions for projects based in Johannesburg.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control system drawings and panel layouts using EPLAN Electric P8 and EPLAN Pro Panel.
• Create and manage EPLAN macros, parts databases, templates and engineering documentation.
• Produce manufacturing and construction documents such as single‑line diagrams, multi‑line schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, terminal plans and Bills of Materials.
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, SANS and other relevant electrical standards.
• Collaborate with project, automation and procurement engineers throughout project execution.
• Support panel builders, procurement teams and commissioning personnel with accurate documentation.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests, site inspections and commissioning activities as required.
• Maintain engineering standards, templates, libraries and implement engineering changes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of electrical design experience in industrial automation, control systems or panel manufacturing.
• 2–3 years of hands‑on experience with EPLAN Electric P8.
• Experience designing electrical control panels and producing manufacturing documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
