Handyman Assistant

About the role

The Handyman Assistant supports a Handyman or Maintenance Technician in delivering general repairs, maintenance tasks and small projects across client sites. This position is ideal for a practical, reliable individual eager to develop a broad range of technical skills while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with painting, basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical support tasks.
• Prepare and organise tools, materials and equipment for daily jobs.
• Perform simple independent tasks such as tightening fixtures, replacing bulbs and patching holes.
• Support installation of shelving, door hardware and other fittings.
• Conduct routine site checks, report issues and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Load, unload and transport materials and tools as required.
• Follow health and safety guidelines and use PPE at all times.
• Provide assistance on projects, including measuring, cutting and holding materials.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• At least 1 year of experience in general labour, maintenance or a technical trade environment, or strong practical aptitude.
• Basic knowledge of tool handling.
• Exposure to any trade such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or electrical.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport (advantageous).
