Global Product Director

About the role

Emma, a direct-to-consumer sleep company founded in 2015 and operating in more than 20 global markets, is seeking a Global Product Director based in Frankfurt. This is a senior strategic appointment acting as co-owner of the product category, responsible for transforming the product portfolio so it remains the global benchmark for sleep comfort. The role covers the full lifecycle of physical products, from material sourcing and R&D through manufacturing, pricing and range strategy, and leads a large, cross-functional product organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the product roadmap so the range architecture aligns with the goal of being the global leader in the sleep category.
• Lead the physical product development cycle, including supplier relationship management, cost structure optimisation and manufacturing efficiency improvements.
• Build, nurture and scale a high-performing product team, with a focus on succession planning and capability building.
• Maintain strong commercial discipline to protect margins in a competitive market.
• Base all development decisions on rigorous consumer research to improve brand preference and customer satisfaction.
• Defend profit margins, manage complex product portfolios and curb range proliferation while fostering a culture of accountability.

Required profile

• At least 15 years of relevant experience, including 3 to 4 years in a senior leadership capacity.
• Background in branded consumer goods, preferably in organisations with proprietary R&D and complex multi-category portfolios.
• Track record in organisations of 1,000+ employees, ideally managing products across diverse international markets.
• Comfortable with both high-level strategy and the practical mechanics of product manufacturing.
• Able to navigate ambiguity and drive consensus in a cross-functional, global environment.
