General Worker – Painting & Tiling (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Our client in the manufacturing sector is looking for a reliable General Worker to support painting, tiling and general labour tasks on a fixed‑term basis. The role combines surface preparation, finishing work and basic site maintenance in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting: clean, scrape, sand, patch, caulk and mask adjacent areas.
• Apply paints, textures and finishes to interior and exterior surfaces following management instructions.
• Interpret drawings, plan tile layouts, cut and shape tiles, apply adhesives and set tiles with correct spacing.
• Grout, seal and finish tiled areas to a high standard.
• Perform manual labour such as digging, lifting, carrying heavy objects and maintaining tools.
• Operate basic machinery and equipment safely.
• Inspect materials and finished work for defects and report findings.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
• Certificates in painting and tiling (or comparable training).
• Previous hands‑on experience in both painting and tiling.
• Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour safely.
• Good communication, ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.

Required skills

• Painting (surface preparation, masking, finishing).
• Tiling (layout planning, cutting, adhesive application, grouting).
• Tile cutting and shaping using wet saws and grinders.
• Adhesive and mortar mixing/application.
• Waterproofing installation.
• Reading blueprints and technical drawings.
• Operating basic machinery and equipment.
• Quality‑control inspection and PPE usage.
