General Surgeon

About the role

Mediclinic Thabazimbi is seeking a qualified General Surgeon to join its private practice team. The hospital, opened in December 2017, serves the surrounding farming and mining communities in the bushveld at the foot of the Ysterberg.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a full range of general surgical procedures, both elective and emergency.
• Assess, diagnose and manage pre‑ and post‑operative patient care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive treatment.
• Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to hospital policies and clinical guidelines.
• Contribute to community health initiatives within the rural catchment area.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in General Surgery.
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Willingness to work in a rural hospital environment.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
