General Manager (Roodepoort)

About the role

We are looking for a General Manager who turns a multi‑sector order book into delivery, cash, people and a workshop that can stand a factory assessment. The Members set direction; the GM makes it happen without waiting to be chased.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational performance across workshop and projects, including output, margin, cash, claims, retention and warranty exposure.
• Maintain an accurate monthly director pack with portfolio status, exceptions, decisions required, invoicing and procurement.
• Protect payments by ensuring valid invoices, activity completion, bonds, retention and follow‑up on late payments.
• Balance work across power, rail, mining, water, industrial and workshop sectors to avoid starving any contract.
• Escalate programme, quality or commercial risks early and ensure formal reporting supersedes informal updates.
• Provide day‑to‑day operational authority within board‑approved limits, including hiring, discipline and stopping unsafe or unpaid jobs.

Required profile

• Degree or national diploma in engineering, operations or equivalent.
• At least ten years in industrial/engineering operations, with five years managing people, plant and budgets.
• Proven delivery experience across more than one sector.
• Comfort with NEC/FIDIC contract environments, factory assessments and tender processes.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites and partner factories.
