General Manager - Manufacturing, Production & Shopfitting

About the role

A well-established company specialising in shopfitting, manufacturing and installations is looking for an experienced General Manager in Johannesburg to oversee production, warehouse operations and overall business performance. The role suits a hands-on leader who can lead teams, improve operational efficiency and drive business growth in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The advertised salary is R60,000 gross per month, with growth potential.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the manufacturing and production facility.
• Manage production planning, scheduling and workflow so projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Lead warehouse operations, stock control and the movement of materials between production and installation teams.
• Supervise and mentor middle management, ensuring accountability and high team performance.
• Monitor production quality, efficiency and health and safety standards.
• Work closely with installation teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, productivity and operational performance.
• Manage resources, staffing and operational costs to maximise efficiency.
• Provide strategic leadership while staying present on the factory floor.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a General Manager, Operations Manager or Production Manager in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong production and manufacturing management experience is essential.
• Demonstrated experience managing warehouse operations and production workflows.
• Experience in shopfitting, joinery, cabinetry, retail fit-out or a related manufacturing industry is highly advantageous.
• Ability to manage supervisors, middle management and operational teams.
• Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
