General Manager

About the role

Unique Personnel is seeking a hands‑on General Manager to lead its manufacturing business in Cape Town. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, building management capability and expanding the customer base to ensure long‑term sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all business functions – Operations, Sales, Finance, HR and Administration – and report monthly on performance.
• Provide on‑site leadership across manufacturing, improving workflow, production planning, scheduling and reducing bottlenecks.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, continuous‑improvement initiatives and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity and on‑time delivery.
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety, housekeeping and ensure ISO systems are upheld.
• Develop and execute the business‑development strategy, identify new markets and manage key customer relationships.
• Mentor managers and supervisors, fostering a culture of ownership, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong track record of operational discipline, process optimisation and strategic business growth.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence the Board and external stakeholders.
• Hands‑on, results‑oriented mindset with a focus on developing people.
