General Maintenance Worker

About the role

Our client is looking for a reliable General Maintenance Worker to join their team in Stellenbosch. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a portfolio of properties, ensuring they remain safe, functional and presentable for tenants and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform painting, plastering, skimming and tiling work across various properties.
• Carry out basic electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs and routine maintenance.
• Inspect and service fire extinguishers, air‑conditioning units and other building systems.
• Conduct site inspections, assess damage and report findings to the foreman.
• Maintain garden areas when required and support any additional tasks assigned by the foreman.
• Engage professionally with external contractors and respond promptly to tenant requests.
• Adhere to health and safety policies, attend monthly safety meetings and keep accurate records.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in building and property maintenance.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team and to travel to other sites when needed.
• Dependable, safety‑conscious, punctual and willing to work overtime.
• Good communication skills and a respectful attitude toward tenants and co‑workers.
