General Engineering Supervisor – Trucks

About the role

The General Engineering Supervisor (Trucks) is responsible for overseeing infrastructure assets, equipment, processes and people to maximise availability and ensure safety compliance within Kumba Iron Ore’s mining operations. You will lead a team of engineers, artisans and operators, driving performance while maintaining a controlled risk environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all workers and contractors.
• Lead, develop and manage the performance of the engineering team, setting objectives and holding members accountable.
• Communicate daily task schedules, resource availability and management instructions.
• Manage engineering and union relations, time‑and‑attendance, and plan leave.
• Arrange mandatory training and support individual development plans.
• Oversee equipment, machines and tools maintenance to ensure maximum availability and quality.
• Plan and execute maintenance schedules aligned with production targets.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities, maintaining new performance standards.
• Ensure compliance with operating model procedures and hand over work orders appropriately.
• Provide daily reports on schedule progress, risks, outstanding work and safety deviations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in supervising engineering teams within a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk management.
• Ability to manage union relations and enforce discipline through established procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for daily briefings and reporting.
