General Assistant – Retail Store, Kempton Park

About the role

Cashbuild is hiring a General Assistant for its store in Cavendish, Kempton Park, Gauteng. The role covers customer service, merchandising of stock, shelf price labelling and housekeeping within the area of responsibility. It is a permanent position open to external applicants.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and assist customers on products and queries, and help resolve customer complaints
• Merchandise stock safely according to the store layout plan and planograms, including bulk stock areas
• Keep the work area free of obstacles so customers can move safely, and keep stock merchandised immediately after receipt
• Ensure correct shelf price labelling within the area of responsibility
• Complete the checklist as required, including the canteen and toilet/shower schedule
• Maintain OHSA safety compliance, such as using safety gear and keeping racking and bulk stock safe to move around
• Report discrepancies, damaged stock and other issues to the Store Manager

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with one year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without related work experience
• Valid South African ID or work permit
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, and ability to work under pressure
