General Assistant – Production & Warehouse Support

About the role

Macsteel Tube & Pipe is seeking an energetic and hardworking General Assistant to join its dynamic production team. The role involves hands‑on support in the warehouse and on the shop floor, ensuring smooth flow of materials and adherence to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Pick and pack stock/material into designated locations.
• Assist the crane driver with slinging and packing material for delivery.
• Load and unload vehicles, including climbing onto trailers to hook and unhook products.
• Support stock‑take activities and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Comply with work‑rule standards, company policies, and safety procedures.
• Perform ad‑hoc functions, work outside normal hours when required, and carry out sweeping and housekeeping tasks.
• Apply correct labels to bundles for material identification.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Provide assistance on other machines as directed by supervisors.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF Level 4‑5 (Grade 12+ or Higher Certificate) – essential.
• Product knowledge of Macsteel items is advantageous.
• Willingness to multitask, work overtime, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Physically capable of loading/off‑loading stock and climbing onto trailers.
