About the role
The Social Services Department of Thembisile Hani Local Municipality is seeking three General Assistants to support daily operations. This permanent position offers an entry‑level opportunity to work in a municipal environment, performing essential cleaning and support tasks while adhering to safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Take basic instructions and follow all safety requirements during work schedules.
- Perform daily routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting surfaces and cleaning the kitchen.
- Wash utensils and maintain cleanliness of communal areas.
- Report defective items to the immediate superior for attention.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required profile
- Basic literacy.
- 0–1 years of relevant experience.
- Competencies: oral communication and workplace safety.
- Must meet core competencies as set out in the Local Government Municipal Staff Regulation No. 45181 of 20 September 2021.
