General Assistant (Internal Applications Only)

About the role

The General Assistant supports the store’s daily operations by delivering excellent customer service, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring a safe, clean environment. This position works within a designated area of the store and reports to the Store Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Assist customers with product queries, advise on selections, and resolve complaints.
• Merchandise bulk stock safely according to store layout and planograms.
• Maintain housekeeping standards: keep aisles clear, label shelves accurately, and ensure the area is free of hazards.
• Complete daily checklists for canteen, toilet/shower schedules, and safety compliance.
• Report damaged stock and any discrepancies to the Store Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least one year of work‑related experience, or Grade 12 without experience.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English and the dominant local language.
• Valid South African ID or work permit.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately and work under pressure.
