Gangstar Development Manager

About the role

The Gangstar Development Manager leads the strategic growth, operational excellence and profitability of Gangstar Café, a social enterprise of The Message Trust South Africa. The role combines entrepreneurial thinking with a deep commitment to the organisation’s missional purpose of transformation through employment, discipleship and enterprise.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Gangstar Café team, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
• Build and maintain relationships with corporate partners, stakeholders and secure enterprise and supplier development funding.
• Provide regular reporting to the Gangstar Directorship on performance, stakeholders and departmental results.
• Strengthen the Gangstar brand through strategic partnerships and brand development initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure robust systems, reporting and financial accountability.
• Monitor performance and profitability across café operations, events, roastery, merchandise and training programmes.
• Contribute to prison and enterprise strategy and overall organisational planning.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to a faith‑based mission and ability to integrate spiritual values into business operations.
• Proven experience leading and scaling social enterprises or similar mission‑driven businesses.
