Full-Stack PHP Developer (Remote, South Africa)

About the role

We are looking for a full‑stack PHP developer to join a fast‑growing U.S. SaaS company serving higher‑education institutions. The position is 100% remote and split between hands‑on product development and direct technical support for customers, working closely with the CTO.

Key responsibilities

• Support technical onboarding and integration calls (SSO/SAML, data integrations, third‑party connections).
• Design, develop, and maintain features across the full stack using PHP/Laravel backend and a Bootstrap‑based frontend.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools to increase productivity.
• Own features from scoping through delivery, gaining increasing independence.
• Help modernise a legacy PHP codebase under CTO guidance.
• Provide training sessions and clear documentation for administrators and IT teams.

Required profile

• Solid, hands‑on PHP experience; comfortable with Laravel or able to ramp up quickly.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap.
• Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases.
• Genuine interest in AI‑assisted coding tools.
• Confident communicator comfortable speaking directly with clients.
• Based in South Africa with availability to work EST (US East Coast) hours.
• Coach‑able, curious, and eager to take on more responsibility.
