FTTX Engineer – Fiber Network Design & Delivery

About the role

The FTTX Engineer will lead the planning, design and delivery of fiber optic network infrastructure projects, covering FTTH, FTTS and backbone deployments. You will ensure that network designs meet engineering standards, customer requirements and industry best practices while providing high‑quality documentation and project coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Design and plan outside‑plant (OSP) fiber routes for new builds, upgrades and expansions.
• Develop detailed fiber network designs, including trenching, aerial, duct and manhole routing strategies.
• Produce construction‑ready engineering documentation, network maps, BOQs, BOMs and cost estimates.
• Review site surveys and feasibility studies to identify environmental, technical and operational constraints.
• Maintain accurate records of underground and aerial infrastructure and update as‑built documentation after project completion.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, quality requirements and industry regulations.
• Provide technical support throughout implementation, resolving design‑related challenges.
• Act as primary technical liaison for customers, managing approvals, documentation reviews and communications.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors, overseeing planning deliverables, SLAs, purchase orders and acceptance processes.
• Conduct quality‑assurance reviews to validate designs, construction outputs and final as‑built records.

Required profile

• Proven experience in planning, designing and delivering fiber optic network infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of FTTH, FTTS and backbone network architectures.
• Ability to produce accurate engineering documentation and cost estimates.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
