FinOps Engineer

About the role

Our client’s Cloud Centre of Excellence is seeking an experienced FinOps Engineer to lead cloud cost management across Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. The role combines financial analysis with technical cloud expertise to deliver visibility, control, and optimisation of cloud spend.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and optimise AWS and Azure cloud spend on a continuous basis.
• Develop cost‑reporting dashboards, forecasts and regular financial reports for business stakeholders.
• Implement and enforce tagging standards, cost allocation models and governance controls.
• Identify and drive cost‑optimisation initiatives, including rightsizing, reserved instances and automation.
• Automate FinOps processes and reporting using scripting and workflow tools.
• Collaborate with Finance, Engineering and Business teams to support budgeting, audit and cloud financial governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related discipline.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner or willingness to obtain the certification.
• 5‑8+ years of experience in FinOps, cloud engineering, cloud operations or IT financial management.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS and Azure cost‑management tools.
• Proven track record of cloud cost reporting, automation and optimisation.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder‑management abilities.

What we offer

• Monthly salary of R95 000.
• Fixed‑term contract of 6–12 months, project dependent.
• Hybrid work model – three days onsite, two days remote.
