Financial Services Data Analyst

About the role

Our client, a well‑established South African organisation in the financial and retail services sector, is seeking a Financial Services Data Analyst. The role is based in Silver Lakes, Pretoria and focuses on turning data into actionable insights that support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Create compelling reports and dashboards using Power BI for stakeholders.
• Compile and distribute statistical data for the Financial and Retail divisions on a regular basis.
• Analyse sales and marketing data to identify trends, patterns and optimisation opportunities.
• Research industry benchmarks and ensure correct measurement standards are applied.
• Extract, transform and load data from MySQL, MS SQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Cleansing and preprocessing data to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Assist with database administration tasks, including performance tuning and security.
• Collaborate with IT to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Develop data pipelines and optimise storage and retrieval processes.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and deliver data‑driven insights.

Required profile

• Proven experience creating Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on financial and retail data.
• Ability to work closely with stakeholders to translate business objectives into data projects.
• Experience collaborating with IT and cross‑functional teams.
