Financial Planning Specialist

About the role

The Financial Planning Specialist will support financial advisors by providing expert investment, estate and business planning advice. This role is part of a Specialist Support Services division that enhances the overall member experience for clients and prospective members.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical advice to clients, focusing on investment strategies and broader financial planning.
• Assess clients' financial circumstances and prepare tailored proposals using financial planning software.
• Research and analyse products, services and regulatory frameworks (IFRS, GAAP) to match client needs.
• Draft and present financial solutions that align with client goals and objectives.
• Build strong relationships with advisors and specialist support teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Support ongoing advisor‑client relationships by monitoring changing financial priorities.
• Collaborate with industry specialists to develop best‑practice recommendations and house views.
• Analyse complex issues such as offshore assets, trusts and intricate tax matters.

Required profile

• Commercial or financial degree with a major in Accounting, Financial Management or Taxation, or equivalent BCom with honours/post‑graduate diploma.
• Professional certifications such as CFP®, RE representative exams; SAIPA, SAICA or FISA® are advantageous.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial planning, investment advice or wealth management.
• Proven analytical and numerical abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a client‑centric mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with financial planning software tools.
• Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP reporting frameworks.
• Ability to analyse complex investment portfolios and develop strategic recommendations.
