Financial Planning Intern

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Finance or Commerce graduate to join our dynamic financial planning team at Time Personnel in Cape Town’s CBD. The internship offers hands‑on experience in financial planning, budget analysis, monthly reporting and investment management, providing a solid foundation for a career in financial advisory.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly actual reports including volume & revenue, variance analysis, P&L, mid‑month and month‑end forecasts.
• Develop and maintain performance tracking tools using Power BI and other visualization platforms.
• Aggregate reporting and insights from clusters to identify risks and opportunities versus forecast.
• Support consolidation and analysis of LE/Budget/R&O forecasts from markets.
• Assist the Regional Controller in forecast processes for the regional office and South Africa market.
• Build and consolidate monthly reporting files to analyse actual versus forecast and explain variances in labour, travel and overhead costs.
• Create dynamic visualisations of large data sets to aid management decision‑making.
• Improve existing internal reports for efficiency and prepare presentations for senior executive meetings.
• Conduct ad‑hoc analysis for various stakeholders.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High integrity, rigor, pro‑activity and team spirit.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated and able to work under pressure.
• Customer‑service orientation and independent judgment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (including macros and programming).
• PowerPoint.
• Power BI.
• Experience with multi‑dimensional tools such as ESSBASE or EOS.
• Familiarity with Microsoft database technologies.
