Financial Controller - Southern Africa, Nigeria & Togo

About the role

SGS, a global testing, inspection and certification company, is looking for a Financial Controller for its Southern Africa, Anglo West Africa, Nigeria and Togo region. The role covers the quality and accuracy of financial reporting, analytical reports and monthly commentary, and coordinates business planning, budgeting, accounting and auditing across the sub-region. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports, balance sheets and income statements, and ensure compliance with legal and group accounting standards
• Coordinate budgeting, accounting and auditing, and define payment conditions for clients and suppliers
• Manage the company's treasury, financing options, loans and subsidies, and monitor liquidity and cost
• Lead the regional finance function, including back-office changes, acquisitions and due diligence, and act as a business partner to the management team
• Monitor performance against plans, budgets and targets, and report on risks and opportunities
• Ensure internal controls, inventory valuation and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• Grade 12 education; a financial degree is an advantage but not mandatory
• 8 to 10 years' experience in a similar position, preferably in a multinational at senior level
• Experience in a matrix organization and with acquisitions and takeovers
• Fluent English and ability to understand the business

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control and reporting
• Hyperion and HFM experience is critical; Oracle Boss and Sun experience is an advantage
• Knowledge of computerized financial information systems
