Financial Controller – Property Sector

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a reputable company in the property sector. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information while supporting strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the accounting team to deliver timely financial reporting.
• Review correction journals, balance‑sheet reconciliations, VAT returns and general‑ledger allocations.
• Assist with SARS VAT objections and appeals as required.
• Prepare audit files and liaise with external auditors throughout the annual audit.
• Analyse monthly financial data, investigate variances and unusual transactions.
• Manage debtor transactions, complex invoicing and bad‑debt write‑offs.
• Reconcile intercompany loan accounts each month.
• Produce management accounts and financial reports for senior management.
• Develop and maintain financial policies, internal controls and process‑automation opportunities.
• Support the Head of Finance and CFO on strategic finance projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Financial Controller or similar role.
• Proven experience managing an accounting team.
• Strong financial management, reporting and analytical abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Office proficiency.
• Experience with MDA/Broll Online (advantageous).
