Financial Controller – Logistics – East Rand

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead branch‑level profit and loss reporting for the logistics network in the East Rand, providing accurate financial insight into revenue, expenses, and operational performance. You will work closely with Branch Managers to interpret results, identify risks, and drive profitability through data‑driven decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and review monthly branch‑level P&L statements, ensuring accurate reflection of revenue, direct costs, operating expenses and margins.
• Analyse branch revenue, expenses, margins and cost drivers to verify alignment with volumes and targets.
• Interpret volume trends and assess their impact on revenue, cost absorption, productivity and profitability.
• Meet monthly with each Branch Manager to review P&L performance, explain variances, validate operational drivers and agree on optimisation actions.
• Support optimisation and cost‑control initiatives across fleet, labour, fuel, linehaul and transport costs.
• Ensure financial reporting accuracy through detailed review, reconciliations and proper allocations.
• Identify financial and operational risks such as declining volumes, margin erosion or non‑compliance with controls.
• Provide financial insight for budgeting, forecasting, target setting and financial planning.
• Translate financial data into clear insights for non‑finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management Accounting or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial analysis, management accounting or financial controlling.
• Experience within logistics, transport, courier or distribution environments is preferred.
