Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the bank's financial records and statutory reporting. You will support senior management with financial decision‑making, capital management and compliance with IFRS, banking legislation and internal control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with statutory law, financial regulations and IFRS (9, 15, 16).
• Prepare financial statements, VAT returns and tax calculations.
• Act as liaison for internal and external audits and coordinate audit processes.
• Lead implementation of changes to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, systems and controls.
• Maintain the chart of accounts, own GL reconciliations and sign‑off on new product approvals.
• Oversee accounting for loans, advances, impairments, investments, treasury instruments and derivatives.
• Process journals, monitor internal controls, perform risk assessments and document control processes.
• Review and sign‑off reconciliations, raise corrective journals and report exceptions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Completed CA(SA) qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a banking environment.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong technical accounting expertise, especially IFRS and banking products.
