Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a well‑established manufacturing organisation operating across Africa, is seeking a Senior Financial Controller to lead the financial control function. The role partners with executive leadership to drive operational and financial excellence in a fast‑paced, multi‑unit environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of monthly management accounts, financial reports and year‑end packs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes, including balance‑sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
• Drive annual budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, providing actionable insights to senior management.
• Manage inventory, stock control, production costing and manufacturing financial reporting, identifying cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation and statutory requirements; manage VAT, PAYE, corporate tax and regulatory submissions.
• Lead internal and external audit processes and maintain robust internal controls.
• Partner with operational, procurement and executive teams, mentor finance staff and support business expansion across the region.

Required profile

• BCom Honours in Accounting, Finance or related field (essential).
• CA(SA), CIMA or equivalent postgraduate finance qualification (advantageous).
• 8‑10 years of financial management experience, preferably in manufacturing, FMCG, industrial or engineering environments.
• Proven experience in management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing costing, inventory management and operational finance.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to regional operations.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems.
