Financial Controller

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing renewable energy and environmental company, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to own and lead its finance function. This role offers exposure to multi‑entity, cross‑border operations and the chance to influence high‑level financial strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full financial close cycle, including monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
• Manage core finance functions such as cash, accounts payable and receivable, payroll and fixed assets.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data, including reconciliations and trial balances.
• Handle cash flow management, treasury activities and banking relationships.
• Prepare detailed financial reports, insights and performance metrics for senior leadership and the Board.
• Execute group consolidations, inter‑company transactions and variance analysis across multiple entities.
• Maintain compliance with IFRS, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Lead the external audit process and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
• Identify process‑improvement opportunities and strengthen financial controls and risk management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline (essential).
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
• At least 3 years post‑articles experience in a similar role.
• 3–5 years experience managing and leading a finance team.
• Exposure to group structures or cross‑border operations (African experience advantageous).
• Experience in project‑based, construction or complex inter‑company environments is beneficial.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• ERP system proficiency.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.
