Financial Administrator – Observatory, Cape Town

About the role

The Financial Administrator will support the Accountant and Financial Manager in processing, reconciling and reporting all financial transactions up to trial‑balance level. Based in the Observatory area of Cape Town, the role ensures compliance with statutory requirements, internal controls and company policies across all finance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor branch expenses, investigate discrepancies and prepare monthly journal entries.
• Perform general‑ledger reconciliations, fixed‑asset accounting, depreciation and accruals.
• Manage petty‑cash verification, bank account processing and cash‑flow reporting.
• Prepare letters of credit, foreign‑trade documentation and forward‑cover purchases.
• Compile inventory cost analyses, support cycle counts and coordinate stock‑takes.
• Process supplier invoices, purchase orders and maintain supplier data in SAGE.
• Generate gross‑profit margin analyses and budget spend reports.
• Assist with ad‑hoc finance tasks and cover for team members as needed.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Experience in financial administration, general‑ledger accounting and accounts payable.
• Familiarity with South African tax, statutory reporting and foreign‑trade procedures.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
