Financial Accountant

About the role

Numbers are the backbone of everything we do. As a Financial Accountant, you will ensure financial data is accurate, maintain complete records, and mentor team members to help the team grow.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions accurately and on time throughout the month.
• Execute month‑end entries according to the Month End Task List.
• Review and release purchase orders, ensuring VAT compliance, correct GL allocation and budget availability.
• Maintain accruals, contingencies, provisioning and prepaid schedules.
• Identify and act on opportunities to strengthen controls.
• Design and maintain effective accounting processes and systems.
• Review SAP master data regularly and keep it current.
• Perform month‑on‑month income statement expense analysis.
• Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve items promptly.
• Produce clear reports for other teams.
• Guide and mentor team members in accounting matters.
• Review kilometre, personnel claims and payment requisitions before they reach Accounts Payable.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders weekly and coordinate with the business.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting – Financial Accounting.
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
• 0–2 years post‑articles experience in financial accounting covering a wide range of functions.

Required skills

• SAP accounting module experience.
• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP.
• Understanding of South African tax, including VAT.
