Financial Accountant – Dubai

About the role

Our client, a century‑old international organisation, is establishing a new finance function in Dubai as part of its European relocation. The Financial Accountant will lead the standalone finance team, ensuring accurate reporting, analysis and compliance while supporting the business’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities for the Dubai entity, including journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and reconciliations.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Produce management reports, balance‑sheet reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow monitoring and working‑capital management.
• Develop financial models and analytical tools for decision‑making.
• Establish local finance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Coordinate the transition of financial operations from Europe to Dubai.
• Handle statutory, tax, audit and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, tax advisers and external service providers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CMA or CIMA) strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in financial accounting, management reporting and analysis.
• Hands‑on experience with month‑end close, reconciliations, budgeting and variance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Experience working in a small or standalone finance team.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling.
• Proficiency with ERP or financial accounting systems.
• Understanding of cash‑flow, working‑capital and internal controls.
• Knowledge of IFRS reporting.
