Financial Accountant (CA) – Freight & Logistics

About the role

Our client, a leading freight and logistics company, is looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) to join their finance team in Bayhead, Durban. The role involves managing month‑end processes, financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision‑making across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Capture month‑end journal entries and review supplier invoices.
• Oversee creditors and debtors functions, including reconciliations and ageing analysis.
• Prepare and analyse monthly income‑statement results and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce quarterly reporting schedules for audit committee, BBB‑EE, sustainability and risk reporting.
• Develop regional forecasts, annual budgets and monitor cash‑flow on a daily basis.
• Coordinate stock takes, inventory reconciliations and fixed‑asset reviews.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors and ensure compliance with purchasing authority limits.
• Train and manage a small finance team, reviewing performance and credit limits.
• Perform bank, intercompany and petty‑cash reconciliations.
• Apply IFRS standards and support cross‑departmental skilling initiatives.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) (SA) qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post‑articles experience, preferably in a Big 4 environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to evaluate financial operations and recommend improvements.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with head‑office finance.
