Finance Manager

About the role

The Finance Manager will support the Finance function of the Grindrod Rail division, ensuring all financial requirements and compliance obligations are met. Based in Durban or Pretoria, the role reports to senior leadership and provides specialist input across budgeting, reporting, audit and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the annual budgeting process, support Business Unit Managers, consolidate forecasts and ensure realistic, strategic budgets.
• Prepare and analyse management accounts, including income statements, balance sheets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Produce routine and ad‑hoc financial reports for senior management, directors and shareholders.
• Coordinate interim and annual audits, liaise with auditors, and ensure audit schedules are met with unqualified opinions.
• Maintain compliance with IFRS, South African tax legislation, Companies Act and internal policies.
• Manage creditor and debtor processes, including credit applications, vendor onboarding and payment releases.
• Oversee stock checks, expense analysis, inter‑company reconciliations and HR reconciliations.
• Drive finance‑related projects that support operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Qualified finance professional with solid experience in budgeting, management accounting and audit coordination.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, South African tax legislation, Companies Act and NCA compliance.
• Proven ability to produce accurate, timely financial reports for senior stakeholders.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
