Finance Manager

About the role

The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s overall financial management while also handling the Director’s personal finances. This includes accurate financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, cash‑flow planning, and strategic financial advice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning for the organisation.
• Monitor performance against budgets and provide financial insights.
• Prepare annual financial statements and coordinate external audits.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, South African tax legislation and statutory requirements (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax).
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes.
• Develop and implement financial policies and internal controls.
• Liaise with auditors, banks and other external stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiencies.
• Manage the Director’s personal budget, cash‑flow, investments and banking relationships.
• Prepare personal financial reports, expenditure analyses and coordinate personal tax matters.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all personal financial information and assist with estate planning and insurance portfolio management as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA or SAIPA is highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, South African tax legislation and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced analytical ability with attention to detail and discretion.
• Experience managing both corporate and personal financial functions in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as Sage and Xero.
