Finance Controller

About the role

A growing business in the poultry processing sector is looking for a commercially minded Finance Controller to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this full‑time, on‑site position is based in Potchefstroom with regular travel to operations in Lindequesdrif. The role combines finance office duties with hands‑on exposure to operational environments, covering financial reporting, costing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash management
• Prepare VAT, PAYE and other statutory returns
• Assist with annual financial statements and audits
• Manage inventory accounting, production costing and stock reconciliations
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management
• Monitor internal controls, financial policies and fixed assets
• Provide financial analysis, board reports and strategic project support to the CFO
• Liaise with SARS, auditors and other stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls and reporting

Required profile

• CA(SA), AGA(SA) or BCom Accounting with completed SAICA or SAIPA articles
• 3–5 years post‑articles accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and South African tax legislation
• Experience in financial reporting and management accounting
• Experience with inventory accounting, production costing and stock reconciliations
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience working with ERP/accounting systems
