Field Service Technician – Electrical & Motor Control

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician for their Ormonde branch in Johannesburg West. The role involves providing technical support, fault‑finding, installation and commissioning services to industrial customers, with regular travel to customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and motor control systems.
• Work with electric motors, motor control equipment, variable speed drives (VSDs) and distribution boards.
• Perform electrical wiring, testing and fault‑finding.
• Commission equipment at customer sites and produce service reports.
• Diagnose electrical and control system faults and implement effective solutions.
• Provide technical support to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation.
• Travel to customer sites as required.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence.
• Proven experience with electric motors, motor control systems, VSDs and distribution board wiring.
• Practical field service and commissioning experience.
• Willingness to travel and work independently under pressure.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Fluent in Afrikaans is an advantage.
• Red Seal Electrician qualification is advantageous.
