Feedlot Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Feedlot Manager to lead the performance, health and efficiency of our feedlot in Delmas. The role combines veterinary expertise with operational leadership to drive productivity while maintaining the highest animal welfare standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee herd health, diagnose and treat conditions, and implement preventative health programs.
• Manage daily feedlot operations including feeding schedules, cattle movement, infrastructure upkeep and feed quality control.
• Conduct regular health assessments, maintain accurate records and coordinate with external veterinarians.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, biosecurity and safety requirements.
• Lead, train and develop the feedlot team, fostering accountability and performance.
• Control budgets, monitor KPIs, and implement cost‑saving initiatives to improve profitability.
• Prepare operational reports and liaise with suppliers, senior management and industry stakeholders.
• Identify and apply best‑practice innovations and continuous‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Veterinary degree (BVSc, DVM or equivalent) – strongly preferred.
• 5‑8 years of experience managing feedlots or large‑scale livestock operations.
• Proven leadership experience in a high‑volume environment.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
