Farm Supervisor

About the role

Aviagen South Africa is seeking an experienced Farm Supervisor to lead daily poultry operations in Heidelberg. You will act as the primary point of contact when the foreman is absent, ensuring production standards, bio‑security and animal welfare are consistently met.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with bio‑security, animal welfare and operational procedures.
• Monitor flock health, production performance and quality metrics.
• Oversee feeding, vaccination, ventilation and routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintain accurate production records, reports and administrative documentation.
• Control inventory of feed, chemicals and farm assets.
• Coordinate flock transfers, site preparation and clean‑out activities.
• Enforce health, safety and housekeeping standards on the farm.
• Communicate operational performance and issues to management.
• Supervise staff and manage daily farm operations in the foreman’s absence.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant poultry work experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a similar environment.
• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
• Proven ability to supervise a complete production cycle under guidance of a Farm Foreman or Manager.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities.
