Facilities Technician

About the role

The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining the functionality, safety, and efficiency of building systems and infrastructure. They perform routine inspections, address maintenance requests, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely repairs and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily inspections and fault‑finding checks in the assigned areas.
• Perform plumbing maintenance and repairs according to issued job cards.
• Complete, sign off, and return job cards for all unscheduled maintenance tasks.
• Report any maintenance requests to the Facilities Service Desk promptly.
• Fill diesel for generators and ensure they are operational.
• Participate in overtime and standby rotations as required.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Plumbing Certificate or trade qualification in plumbing.
• 3–5 years of relevant plumbing and general maintenance experience.
• Valid Code 08 (EB) driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Strong plumbing maintenance and fault‑finding abilities.
• General building maintenance expertise.
• Diesel generator operation and refuelling.
