External Sales Representative

About the role

Our client, a supplier of decorative building products, is seeking an energetic External Sales Representative to expand its presence across Gauteng and the Free State. The role is field‑based, requiring frequent visits to hardware stores, retailers, wholesalers, contractors and other construction‑related customers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and grow sales within the assigned Gauteng and Free State territory.
• Identify and secure new customers across independent hardware stores, retailers, wholesalers and contractors.
• Maintain regular visits to existing customers to strengthen relationships and generate repeat business.
• Present and promote the product range, conduct demonstrations and provide training.
• Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing and follow opportunities through to order.
• Collaborate with the internal sales team to ensure excellent customer service and order fulfilment.
• Monitor competitor activity, pricing and market developments.
• Assist customers with product positioning, stock requirements and in‑store displays.

Required profile

• Matriculation (Matric) is essential.
• 2–5 years of external sales experience, preferably in building materials, hardware or decorative finishes.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
• Strong new‑business development and relationship‑building abilities.
• Self‑motivated, energetic and target‑driven.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and willingness to travel throughout the territory.

What we offer

• Base salary of R20 000 per month.
• Car allowance of R5 000.
