External Sales Representative – Hardware, Tools & Industrial Products

About the role

Our client, a leading industrial and hardware wholesaler in Johannesburg, is seeking an External Sales Representative to expand its trade portfolio. You will work directly with hardware retailers, distributors and general dealers, building strong relationships and driving sales of a wide product range.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of existing customer accounts.
• Identify, approach and onboard new trade customers across hardware, tools and building materials.
• Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets.
• Present and promote the full product range, including hardware, tools, security, homeware and gardenware.
• Process quotations, orders and follow up on deliveries.
• Report on sales activity, pipeline and account performance.
• Collaborate with internal sales, warehouse and procurement teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment.

Required profile

• Proven sales experience in hardware, tools, DIY or building materials.
• Strong network of trade contacts in hardware/tools retail and distribution (advantageous).
• Self‑motivated hunter mentality with ability to prospect and close new business.
• Excellent relationship‑building, negotiation and communication skills.
• Target‑driven, resilient and able to work independently.
• Own reliable vehicle and valid driver’s licence.
