External Account Manager – Pharma

About the role

The External Account Manager – Pharma will be the primary commercial interface for a defined portfolio of pharmaceutical and life‑science customers. You will drive sustainable growth by deepening relationships, expanding product penetration, and uncovering new business opportunities within a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of category A & B pharmaceutical and life‑science customers.
• Maintain and grow existing business through structured account management and solution selling.
• Expand product range penetration across excipients, APIs, and life‑science ingredients.
• Identify, develop, and secure new pharma business opportunities.
• Achieve and exceed gross profit and margin targets while optimising long‑term profitability.
• Conduct detailed customer profiling and ensure compliant records.
• Perform frequent, structured customer visits and engagements.
• Provide accurate weekly forecasts, call reports, and sales administration.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Regulatory teams.
• Adhere to Brenntag Rules of Procedure, SOPs, and quality standards.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of external sales or account management experience in pharmaceutical, life‑science, or regulated chemical markets.
• Proven track record managing complex key accounts and delivering sales and margin targets.
• Strong understanding of quality, compliance, and regulatory frameworks such as GMP and GDP.
• Ability to build long‑term strategic customer relationships and negotiate effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with CRM systems.
