Expert Full Stack Developer – Java, Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes

About the role

We are seeking an expert Full Stack Developer to join our high‑performing technology team in Johannesburg. The role involves designing, building and maintaining scalable Java‑based enterprise applications and microservices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust Java applications and services.
• Create and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Implement scalable, high‑performance software solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and deliver new features.
• Ensure application performance, quality, security and responsiveness.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration and automated tests.
• Participate in code reviews and promote high development standards.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and work with DevOps to deploy applications.
• Troubleshoot complex defects, perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventative solutions.
• Monitor application availability and participate in incident management.
• Document technical designs, processes and best practices.
• Mentor junior developers and share technical knowledge.

Required profile

• Strong experience in Java development, including JavaEE and Hibernate.
• Proven expertise in microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Hands‑on experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Solid understanding of Docker containerisation and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Familiarity with Agile SDLC, CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to resolve production issues.
• Effective communication and collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
