Experienced Transport Controller – Cross‑border Dangerous Goods

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Transport Controller to manage cross‑border shipments of dangerous goods, primarily copper, sulphur and other minerals, between the DRC, Zambia, Dar Es Salaam and Durban. The role involves coordinating with hauliers, customs agents and customers to ensure smooth, compliant and profitable transport operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and track shipments in real time, securing capacity at profitable rates.
• Maintain SOFTR with up‑to‑date haulier allocations and load confirmations.
• Prepare, review and manage export/import customs documentation (invoices, permits, manifests, CI, PL slips, etc.).
• Coordinate with border agents, customs officials and revenue authorities to facilitate border crossings.
• Resolve operational issues such as delays, documentation gaps or vehicle breakdowns and escalate complex problems when needed.
• Communicate daily consolidated tracking reports to customers.

Required profile

• Matriculation plus a relevant diploma or certificate.
• Solid cross‑border logistics experience, especially moving dangerous goods between DRC, Zambia, Dar Es Salaam and Durban.
• Strong knowledge of import and export procedures.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Familiarity with the SOFTR transport management system.
