Experienced Transfer Secretary / Paralegal (Johannesburg)

About the role

Our client, a respected legal firm in Johannesburg, is looking for an experienced Transfer Secretary/Paralegal to manage a wide range of property transactions. The successful candidate will work independently, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the conveyancing process.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end property transfers, meeting all legal and administrative requirements.
• Handle normal estate‑agent transfers, providing seamless service to clients and agents.
• Process assisted sale transfers, including ABSA HelpUSell and Standard Bank EasySell.
• Oversee Sheriff transfers, ensuring compliance and timely execution.
• Administer insolvent estate and deceased estate transfers with strict adherence to legal frameworks.
• Prepare and reconcile all financial aspects of transfer transactions.
• Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders to keep complex transactions on schedule.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Transfer Secretary or Paralegal with a focus on conveyancing.
• Demonstrated ability to handle normal estate‑agent, assisted sale, Sheriff, insolvent and deceased estate transfers.
• Exceptional organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong time‑management and ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliability and dependability in a fast‑paced legal environment.
