Experienced Scrub Clinical Nurse – Theatre

About the role

The Professional Scrub Nurse at Netcare Mulbarton Hospital provides holistic, patient‑centred care within the operating theatre. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, the nurse ensures safe intra‑operative management and supports high‑quality surgical outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients before, during and after surgery to deliver safe, evidence‑based care.
• Prepare, check, control and maintain surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Manage stock, supervise charging of supplies, and ensure proper documentation of capital expenditure.
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anaesthetists and other team members.
• Participate actively in clinical governance and adhere to hospital policies and standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (R/N) with proven experience in a theatre or scrub environment.
• Strong understanding of holistic nursing practice and patient safety.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice.

Required skills

• Instrumentation handling and maintenance.
• Knowledge of surgical asepsis and intra‑operative protocols.
