Experienced Quantity Surveyor – Construction Projects

About the role

Our client, a well‑established construction firm in Durban, is seeking a hands‑on Quantity Surveyor with strong site and commercial experience. You will manage the full quantity surveying function across residential and commercial building projects, ensuring cost control and accurate reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project budgets, cost plans and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Measure completed work and produce interim valuations and payment certificates.
• Administer subcontractor appointments, payments, variations and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs, identify commercial risks and prepare tender documentation, BOQs and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with contracts managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients.
• Manage claims, variations and contractual correspondence.
• Support procurement and negotiate subcontractor packages.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Proven experience on residential and commercial building projects.
• Solid knowledge of construction processes, contracts, measurements and cost control.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work closely with site teams and meet project deadlines.

• Competitive salary ranging from R 500 000 to R 700 000 per year.
