Experienced Clinical Nurse – Emergency Unit

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse (R/N) to join the Emergency Unit at Netcare Ferncrest Hospital. The role involves delivering holistic, person‑centred nursing care, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and leading emergency response efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and document individualized nursing care for patients and families in the emergency department.
• Act as a clinical resource, supporting staff in patient assessment, care planning and evaluation.
• Initiate and direct emergency treatment (RESUS) across any ward or department as required.
• Collaborate with physicians during rounds to review patient conditions and develop care plans.
• Contribute to policy development, quality and risk management, and ensure a safe environment.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Extensive knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice.
• Proven experience in emergency nursing and multidisciplinary team coordination.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic patient records (EPR) and clinical order entry systems.
• Competence in resuscitation procedures (RESUS) and emergency treatment protocols.
