Estimator – Shopfitting & Interior Projects

About the role

We are looking for an Estimator to join our Johannesburg team, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for shopfitting and interior fit‑out projects. The role supports the full project lifecycle, from reviewing tender documents to tracking costs against budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, specifications and tender documents to produce cost estimates.
• Quantify materials and labour, request and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and tender submissions.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers and workshop teams to ensure estimates reflect buildability, timelines and quality standards.
• Update cost databases and support value‑engineering proposals.
• Track project costs against estimates and assist with pricing variations and client queries.

Required profile

• Experience in construction or shopfitting estimation, including reading technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency with estimation and project costing software and MS Excel (or similar tools) for take‑offs and pricing.
• Knowledge of materials, fittings and manufacturing processes used in joinery, shopfitting and interior fit‑outs.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, suppliers and clients.
• Ability to work onsite in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area, manage deadlines and handle multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Interior/Architectural Technology or related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in retail, commercial interiors or bespoke joinery projects is advantageous.
